Annie Heisler Clark
RYT 200
Annie became open to the possibilities that a regular practice of yoga could bring to her own life during a sibling trip to an ashram in upstate New York in the mid 1990s. Perhaps it is true that "when the student is ready, the teacher appears!"
In 1996, Annie discovered Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga when she moved to London. She found the heat and the discipline of the practice a perfect remedy to the long dark winter days. Upon her return to the US in 2002, Annie attended Ashtanga teacher training with David Swenson and taught Power Yoga from 2002-2006 in various studios in St. Louis. Annie has been fortunate to have the guidance and friendship of many great teachers from both the Ashtanga and Anusara based traditions. Her approach to yoga is simple and non-intimidating. Her classes incorporate movement, breath and the rhythm of music for improved concentration, strength and flexibility, as well as building a cleansing body heat "from the inside out." In 2004 Annie partnered with a yoga studio in St. Louis to create "24 Hours of Yoga" Ð a New Years Eve yoga marathon to raise money for ALS and Ovarian Cancer research that continues to this day.
Annie is married with two sons and lives in Wilton. She runs a small eco-friendly apparel business and is passionate about "giving back" - volunteering time as a host mother for The Fresh Air Fund and a dog walker with Paws CT.
